A Weekend Guide to Midtown and Uptown Phoenix
One of the things I love most about living in Phoenix is the sheer size of the city – there is always something new to explore. AZ Central recently defined 35 unique neighborhoods across the metro region on their Street Scout website! I currently live at one of Baron’s apartment communities in Uptown Phoenix named Inhabit on 7th, located near the intersection of Bethany Home and N. 7th Street. I love living there, but Baron has several Central Phoenix apartments available including Vertu, Uptown 68 and The Lex on Central.
I thought I’d take some time to share all of the local attractions near our Midtown Phoenix apartments. Why, you ask? I just LOVE my neighborhood – Central Phoenix Arizona combines the fun of living downtown with the relaxation of living a little further out of the urban core. I figured the best way to do this was sharing how I spent last weekend showing a friend around who was visiting from out of town! So, here is my weekend guide to Uptown and Midtown Phoenix!
Friday Night
My friend didn’t get in until late afternoon, so I didn’t bother taking the whole day off of work. I suggested we meet up for Happy Hour around 5 at Rott n’ Grapes – though it’s worth noting that their happy hour goes until 8PM every day of the week!! We grabbed a charcuterie board and a glass of Oyster Bay Chardonnay – only $8 on happy hour.

We decided to walk to our dinner destination – the beloved St. Francis on Camelback Rd. I have been here many times, and ordered many things off their menu, but I always come back to their french onion burger! I am such a sucker for a fancy burger – it’s kind of my thing. This burger is loaded with smoked bacon, gruyere, crispy onions, arugula, and french onion dip. My friend ordered the salmon and absolutely loved it, but eventually admitted that she was envious of my plate!

Our next (and final) destination was The Womack Cocktail Lounge. Seriously love my apartment building’s proximity to many local options, including this classy spot! Opened in 2016 by the same owners of The Vig, The Womack is a tribute to a well-known lounge from the 60’s called Chez Nous. They honor the spirit of Chez Nous by continuing the tradition of “classic cocktails and soulful music”. I decided to veer from my standard Old Fashioned and ordered an Amaretto Sour. It was perfect! On Fridays they have Lee Perreira & Miguel Melgoza play some sweet tunes for the crowd. We finally decided to head home shortly before midnight – The Womack was such a fun way to end the night. Note to self: come back for happy hour here for $6 cocktails!

Saturday
My friend wasn’t as enthusiastic about it as I was, but we decided to catch a 9AM Pure Barre class at their Central Phoenix location to work off our indulgent Friday night. We obviously needed some breakfast and coffee after that sweat sesh, so I decided to take her over to Lux Central, my favorite Midtown Phoenix coffee house!
There was a last minute decision that we absolutely needed to go out dancing that night, so we ran over to nearby Biltmore Fashion Park to grab a new outfit. The shopping center is located in close proximity to Baron’s apartments for rent in Central Phoenix including Vertu, Inhabit on 7th, The Lex on Central, and Uptown 68.
Isn’t it funny how 3PM feels like naptime every day? With plans to stay up late, we headed back to my apartment for a quick snooze before dinner.
Stock and Stable, in my opinion, is one of the most fabulous restaurants in the metro area, so had to show it off to my friend. We started out with the kung pao cauliflower, ordered a bottle of wine, and settled on the yellowtail and short rib for entrees. I loved the light yet complex flavors of the yellowtail dish, and the short rib dish was rich and completely melted in your mouth.

Now onto the important part of the night… dancing! My coworker told me about this place called Lavatory that just opened up – they have an adult ball pit! We decided to spring for the tickets that included the ball drop and it was 100% worth it. We had such a blast dancing to the music with thousands of glowing balls dropping from the ceiling – SO COOL. Seriously, drop what you’re doing right now and book your tickets.

We ended our night at newly opened The Louie, dancing, laughing, and drinking martinis!
Sunday
After having such a fun late night, we woke up a little groggy and agreed that we were due for a laid back day at the spa. There are many spas located in Phoenix Arizona, but we chose some VIP level pampering at the Alvadora Spa at the Royal Palms Resort. I sprung for the Citrus Ritual – their signature body treatment. Worth every penny.

Staying on pace with our leisurely day of self care, we chose a late lunch at Flower Child at Uptown Plaza. I think you’ll get a dose of vitamins from just looking at the photo of their food below! So fresh and healthy. Plus, Uptown Plaza has so many awesome shops to check out – we stopped into Modernique, Local Nomad, and Muse after lunch. My bank account isn’t very happy with me, but my wardrobe is!

Unfortunately, all good things (weekends, in this case), come to an end. At least it was just a 15 minute drive from Central Phoenix to Sky Harbor!
I had such a great time showing my friend Midtown and Uptown Phoenix. I am so lucky to live in this incredible neighborhood. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re looking for any recommendations of what to see, eat, or do in Central Phoenix!
